From Moscow it's thirty miles north to the Mineral Mountain Rest Area (the only highway rest area between Moscow and Coeur d'Alene). There's a very short woodland trail here if you're just looking for a brief stroll. More important, there are flush toilets and potable water: two items lacking inside McCroskey itself.
