Bibliographic Style
UCOLL 300 - Unit IV - Bibliographies
Earlier in the semester, we learned how to identify different kinds of citations by looking at what components they included. You got practice learning how to differentiate book citations from article citations, and became familiar with recognizing government document and media citations as well.
You may already know, though, that there are different ways (or styles) of writing citations within a bibliography. There are many different bibiographic styles, but most academic sources use some variation of about three main bibliographic styles: Modern Language Association (MLA), American Psychological Association (APA), or Soil Science Society of America (SSSA).
| Academic Branch | Publisher | Acronym |
|---|---|---|
| Social Sciences | American Psychological Association | APA |
| Sciences |
Soil Science Society of America National Library of Medicine (and others) |
SSSA NLM |
| Humanities | Modern Language Association | MLA |
