UCOLL 300 - Unit III - Introduction

After completing this tutorial, you should:

• Understand how academic study and research is organized by academic disciplines - each of which fit into one of three branches of academic study. 
• Access discipline-specific databases¹. Use discipline-specific database descriptors² to focus a search and focus your research topic..
• Identify relevant, academic terminology related to your research and topic. Incorporate these new academic terms in revising your "Starting Point" topic.

  ¹Sometimes called subject-specific databases, and do not include WSU WorldCat, Academic Search Complete, or Griffin.

  ²Sometimes called "subject headings" or "subject areas"
