The slopes were covered with thousands of beautiful Avalanche Lilies (Erythronium montanum). To identify the many flowering plants here, pick up a copy of the beautifully illustrated little booklet Mountain Flowers of the Cascades and Olympics, available in the gift shops. The plants are arranged by color, so you'd thumb through the white meadow plants to find these.
