I am the Head of Owen and Fischer Libraries and I manage the collections budgets for the Owen and Fischer libraries (online materials and print, etc.) and lead collections related projects for the Owen and Fischer Libraries. I am the ex-officio member of the Collections Advisory Working Group. I am also the subject librarian for the following areas: Bioengineering, Biological Systems Engineering, Biotechnology, Crops & Soil Sciences, Entomology, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Mathematics and Statistics, Molecular Biosciences, Molecular Plant Sciences, Plant Pathology, Speech and Hearing Sciences, and pre-health sciences. My primary responsibilities also include reference services and instruction. I also serve as a faculty representative on the Dean's Advisory Council.

Eileen Brady

I am the liaison for Astronomy, Biochemistry/Biophysics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, the Institute of Biological Chemistry, and the Institute of Shock Physics. In this capacity I consult with faculty to learn more of their instruction and research needs, teach library instruction classes, and manage the collections in the subjects. I also provide reference service.

I supervise three temporary employees, work with other units on preservation questions and problems, and act as a university resource for salvage and preservation problems. In addition, I work with David Kolva on resolving questions about Owen serials and government documents, consult with Joseph Ford on stacks maintenance, and assist R.J. Hart and Owen circulation personnel with resolutions to problem Interlibrary Loan requests. The official job title is Head of Owen Preservation and Access.

Within the Libraries and University, I serve on the Health & Safety Working Group, Preservation Working Group, Mid-Managers Working Group, Facilities Working Group, Library Faculty Affairs Committee, and the Police Advisory Board.

Joe Ford

I am a member of the Circulation Staff in Owen Science and Engineering Library, serving as the Lead. My primary responsibilities include maintenance of the book stacks in Owen, keeping them orderly and shifting as needed to acommodate new materials. I also lead the Clerical Assistants in their duties and have primary responsibility for training new temporary employees in most of their tasks at Owen. This includes call number recognition, sorting, shelving, copier maintenance, and customer service such as charging and discharging materials loaned to patrons. I oversee the Owen Circulation Department in Robbie's absence, search for missing materials, process temporary user applications. I also back up as needed in processing Summit, Request Item, and Ariel requests. I provide Robbie with monthly summary reports of library materials picked up and searches for missing materials.

Betty Galbraith

I am librarian for the following subject areas: botany, zoology, general biological sciences, geology, environmental sciences and regional management. This involves liaison with the faculty, management of those subject collections in Owen Science and Engineering Library and Holland Library as well as the online collection. Other areas of special subject expertise are arctic research and global climate change. I am also the library liaison to Multicultural Student Services and to International Programs. I also provide direct assistance and training to library users at the reference desk in Owen Library and via email.

Library instruction is a major aspect of my responsibilities. I teach subject specific classes in my liaison areas, English class sessions, and orientation class sessions for new graduates in my liaison areas and other special constituencies. I teach GenEd 300, and work with Freshman Seminar. I create instructional handouts and library instruction tools such as podcasts.

As Library Instruction Coordinator in Owen Library, I act as a coordinator for the classrooms in the building. I provide informational sessions for the librarians and reference training sessions for staff. I also provide advice and assistance to librarians on issues of teaching, handout design and educational resources, as needed.

I am active in the Public Relations Task Force, the Government Information Working Group and the Library Instruction/Reference Working Group. I am also involved in the informal group investigating emerging technologies for library outreach.

Robbie Giles

My position manages the workflow of the Owen Circulation Desk and includes overseeing a team of three additional staff and fifteen temporary employees. I am also responsible for scheduling temporary employees in the Fischer Agricultural Sciences Library. This includes maintaining appropriate workforce levels in both libraries throughout the academic year and during intersession periods.

This position also includes the duties and responsibilities of overseeing stacks maintenance, document delivery, photocopy services, and the day-to-day operations of the Owen Science and Engineering Library. I monitor and review the TE budget for Owen and Fischer Libraries and prepare an analysis of TE hours usage and need for both libraries as well.

I am responsible for interviewing, hiring, disciplining, discharging and scheduling of temporary employees. I oversee the Civil Service staff work schedules. Also, I conduct annual performance evaluations for Civil Service employees and perform disciplinary actions as needed. I am also a member of the Access Services Working Group.

I work full-time at Owen where I lead time-slip employees as the evening circulation lead. I assist with Ariel problem solving, map processing, CJ stack maintenance, troubleshoot Interlibrary Loan request problems, and provide regular Reference service.

I am the librarian for the departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, General Engineering, Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and Food Science and Human Nutrition and am responsbile for collection development and instruction in those areas. Other primary responsibilities include developing, producing, and updating handouts and other instructional resources, as well as managing the reference collection.

As the Electronic Resources Librarian, I am responsible for instructing patrons on using electronic resources and accessing the wireless network, troubleshooting problems with electronic resources and computers in the Owen Library, facilitating the addition of new electronic resources, and routine management of the websites for the Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences, and Owen Science and Engineering Libraries. I serve on the Library Instruction/Reference Working Group and the Web Working Group in these capacities.

Michael Landers

I work half-time at Owen where my primary responsibility is the assistance of our patrons at the circulation desk. This work ranges from clerical to reference. I check out books to patrons, help them with their Copicards and our card readers, give them directions, and assist them with our equipment including copiers and microfilm. I provide instruction in the use of our digital collections and our materials access services such as Summit and ILLiad I explain library policies and procedures to our patrons. When the fulfillment of a patron’s needs is beyond my expertise or the scope of my position, I refer them to somebody who can help them.

My primary internal responsibilities include the processing of the Science Library reserves and electronic reserves. I train the new student employees in general front desk circulation duties. I search for missing items. I order our unit’s office supplies and maintain our paper inventory. I receive our new books and keep our new books shelf looking pretty and well stocked.

My primary responsibilities include serving as the liaison for the College of Pharmacy, coordinating reference services at the Owen Library, and managing the Owen Library Map Room. My office is Owen Library 127.

I serve on the Collection Management Working Group, Library Instruction and Reference Working Group, the Libraries Student Excellence Research Award Task Force, and the Search it! Task Force.
