No soundtrack to Halloween would be complete without the flapping wings and piercing squeaks of bats. They are the maligned creatures of the night this time of year and also part of the holiday decorating tsunami – as in uber-icky spongey blobs hanging off fishing line on front porches.

Holland, Terrell and Owen Libraries have changed their checkout policy for laptops to give patrons more flexibility. Patrons can now take checked-out laptops outside of the library buildings. Four-hour checkout times will remain the same.

Jennifer O’Neal, university historian and archivist at the University of Oregon Libraries, will present a talk at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, on engaging students in decolonizing research to achieve reciprocity and reconciliation with source communities.

A winter-wooly bison, a lonely cheetah and more wildlife photographs by fourth-year veterinary student Kristen Lucibello are on display through December at the Animal Health Library, Wegner Hall 170.
