The Holland and Terrell Libraries contain many resources for students and faculty interested in MIS. If you have any questions not answered on the WSU Libraries website or would like to request a book or journal on any subject related to MIS, please contact Mary Gilles. For questions about the MIS program, please see the Department of Information Systems.
For additional information on MIS related topics, see these subject guides:

Library Catalog
GRIFFIN Library Catalog The library catalog includes holdings for all the WSU Library sites, in Pullman and across the state. Please note: Electronic journals and other 'virtual' publications are included in the catalog. WSU is also a member of SUMMIT, a shared catalog that allows members of the WSU community to search for and borrow books owned by universities and colleges in Washington and Oregon at no cost to the user.
Indexes, Abstracts and Other Databases
Because of the cross-disciplinary nature of MIS research, you may find useful resources in many areas of the sciences and social sciences. To explore sources in addition to those highlighted below, browse resources by subject using the alphabetical list of subject guides or browse the Article Indexes/E-Journals page.
- ABI/Inform (Dateline, Global, Trade and Industry) : Index of over 1000 business and economics journals with 500 in full text including charts and graphics.
- Social Sciences Citation Index: Part of the Web of Knowledge, it is a multidisciplinary database, searchable by author, title, abstract, or citation. It covers the journal literature of the social sciences and indexes more than 1,725 journals spanning 50 disciplines from 1996-present. A brief guide to using SSCI is available at: http://www.systems.wsu.edu/bin/libdocs/e-resources/Web_of_Science.pdf.
- Digital Dissertations: Includes citations and abstracts, as well as page previews.
- Lexis-Nexis Academic: Contains a wide variety of business information, including news articles from major national and international newspapers and business periodicals, and company, industry, and legal information.
- ERIC: The Educational Resource Information Center, partially sponsored by the National Library of Education, includes indexing (and some access tools for full-text) for journal articles and other documents on education-related topics.
- ProQuest Computing: Provides full-text access to articles related to all aspects of computing.
Data Sets
The primary source for data sets for Washington State University faculty and students is the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). ICPSR maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction. You can download directly from ICPSR to any computer on one of the WSU campuses. For more information about acquiring data files and what machine readable data files are held in the Holland and Terrell Libraries, see the Holland Library Data Archive.
Electronic Journals
There are multiple ways to gain access to WSU electronic journals. The first is to search GRIFFIN for the title of a specific journal, and then select the hypertext link; this will lead either to the journal itself or to the database containing the journal. The second is to select "Article Indexes/E-Journals" from the WSU Libraries homepage; in the section labeled "Electronic Journals," search for your title or browse the alphabetical list. Some full-text resources useful for MIS research are:
Collections
- ACM Digital Library: The collection of electronic journals, conference proceedings and newsletters published by the Association for Computing Machinery from 1960-present.
- Science Direct (Elsevier): Over 650 journals available in full text from 1995 to the present. Including almost 300 titles available at WSU in electronic form only.
- Ingenta
- ProQuest Direct
- Wiley Interscience: Full text of Wiley Interscience Journals to which WSU subscribes. Dates of coverage vary depending on the journal.
