Library Catalog
GRIFFIN Library Catalog. The library catalog includes holdings for all the WSU Library sites, in Pullman and across the state. Please note: Electronic journals and other 'virtual' publications are included in the catalog. GRIFFIN also provides access to SUMMIT, a system that allows users to borrow books owned by all publicly supported colleges and universities in Washington State as well as many colleges and universities in Oregon.

Indexes, Abstracts and Other Databases
- EconLit. Indexes major journals in Economics. Article citations indicate availability of journal in WSU Libraries collection.
- Country Reports. Available via Business Source Complete. From the Economist Intelligence Unit. Older reports are also available in print at Holland and Terrell.
- International Monetary Fund International Financial Statistics: (In-library access only, CD-ROM, Holland and Terrell Reference Area). This database is a standard source of international statistics on all aspects of international and domestic finance. Many of the time series are available from the 1940s forward.
- World Development Indicators: (CD-ROM - In library access only) Produced by the World Bank, it includes reports on developing countries and statistics (some back to 1960).
- PAIS International. Contains citations with summaries for all types of publications in the area of world public affairs. It covers from 1972-present. The print version of this resource is available in Holland and Terrell Reference.
- Lexis-Nexis Academic. Contains a wide variety of business information, including news articles from major national and international newspapers and business periodicals, and company, industry, and legal information.
- STAT-USA (in-library access only). Includes US economic statistics and other selected information from government agency sources; international trade statistics from the National Trade Data Bank; and market and country research.
- Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Science): Citation indexes are specialized resources that facilitate in-depth research. SSCI is a multidisciplinary database covering the journal literature of the social sciences including economics.
- Agricola. Indexes articles, books and government documents related to all aspects of agriculture.
- BioOne. Full-text article access to over 50 research journals published by scientific societies.
- CAB Abstracts. Citations with abstracts to the literature in all aspects of agriculture in the broadest sense.
- Energy Citations Database. Citations for energy and energy-related scientific and technical information from the U.S. Department of Energy and Related Agencies.
- Human Population & Natural Resource Management. Indexes journals, books, and reports.
- TRIS Online: Transportation Research Information Services. Indexes research on all modes and disciplines in the field of transportation.
- Wildlife and Ecology Studies Worldwide. Citations to literature dealing with wildlife, including economic studies.
- Business Source Complete (EBSCO)
Data Sets
The primary source for data sets for Washington State University faculty and students is the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). ICPSR maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction. You can download directly from ICPSR to any computer on one of the WSU campuses. Electronic Journals
There are two ways to gain access to WSU electronic journals. The first is to search GRIFFIN for the title of a specific journal, and then select the hypertext link; this will lead either to the journal itself or to the database containing the journal. The second is to select "Article Indexes/E-Journals" from the WSU Libraries homepage; in the section labeled "Electronic Journals," search for your journal title or browse the alphabetical list.

- Berkeley Electronic Journals in Macroeconomics, Theoretical Economics and Economic Analysis and Policy.
- Science Direct. Search or browse full-text of journals.
- ProQuest Direct. Search or browse full-text of journals and news sources. Includes ABI/Inform, a business database, and the full text of the Wall Street Journal.
- JSTOR. Search or browse back issues of selected journals.
- Wiley Interscience. Select subject: Business, Finance and Management.
- Oxford Journals.
Internet Links
To find information or statistics disseminated by government sources, consider using an Internet search engine that searches only government sites, such as Google Unclesam.
- Alfred: Archival Federal Reserve Economic Data. Retrieves vintage versions of economic data that were available on specific dates in history.
- Bureau of Economic Analysis, United States Department of Commerce. National and international accounts statistics.
- Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS): Includes measures of establishment openings and closings, firm startups, job creations and destruction by firm size, age, and industrial sector, and several other statistics on business dynamics.
- Business Employment Dynamics: Statistics generated from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, or ES-202, program, these quarterly data series consist of gross job gains and gross job losses statistics from 1992 forward.
- Company Statistics Program. U.S. Census Bureau: Provides data every five years for The Survey of Business Owners; annually for The Capital Expenditures Survey and The Information and Communication Technology Survey; The Quarterly Financial Report on business financial conditions. Also, provides The Statistics of U.S. Businesses – performance date by enterprise size, geographic area, and industry.
- DataFerrett. A data mining and extraction tool that allows the user to select variables and recode them as needed. Runs on an application icon the user installs on the desktop.
- The Dismal Scientist. Includes news articles and economic releases.
- EconDISC: Data Information Center at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Comprehensive assemblage of the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank's data services.
- Economagic.com. Economic Time Series Page. A comprehensive site of free, easily available economic time series data useful for economic research, particularly economic forcasting.
- Economic Policy Institute. EPI disseminates research in five main areas: living standards/labor markets, government and the economy, globalization and trade, politics and public opinion, and sustainable economics.
- Economics Research Network. Part of the Social Science Research Network. This database contains information about working papers and articles and some links to free full-text.
- Economist.com. Complements The Economist in print.
- Encyclopedia of Law and Economics. This encyclopedia is published by Edward Elgar.
- FRASER: Federal Reserve Archival System for Economic Research. Provides links to scanned images of historical economic statistic publications.
- FRED: Federal Reserve Economic Data. A database of over 13.000 U.S. economic time series.
- Foreign Exchange Rates - Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Current and historical foreign exchange rates.
- Liber8. An economic information portal for librarians and students, providing free online economic materials, databases, and web sites.
- Macroeconomic Time Series Data Locator. This resource can help you identify specific sources of statistical information. Although it is customized for the resources of the University of Chicago, many of these are also in the collection of the WSU Libraries.
- NBER: National Bureau of Economic Research. Provides full text access to NBER research and publications.
- OANDA, The Currency Site. Real-time foreign exchange rates and conversion rates.
- OECD Glossary of Statistical Terms.
- RePEc: (Research Papers in Economics). Use this resource to connect to free full-text of working papers.
- Resources for Economists on the Internet. An extensive directory, organized in general categories. Sponsored by the American Economic Association. "Data" icon provides links to a large number of data sources and data sets.
