Intercollegiate Athletics - Football
Films and video tapes, 1950-1987
Films and video tapes of Washington State University football teams and their games were transferred to the Washington State University Libraries by the Athletics Department in 1991 (UA91-14). These items were separated from a larger body of films, chiefly of basketball games. They supplement earlier accessions (Archives 29, 188, and 204). The films and video tapes were inventoried, arranged and described by Stephen Charry in July, 1991.

AGENCY HISTORY
Football has been an organized athletic activity at Washington State University since the 1890s. Intercollegiate games date from the earliest years of the university. Filming began in the 1920s and continued until superseded by video recording in the late 1980s.
ARRANGEMENT AND DESCRIPTION
Films and video tapes of football games have been arranged in three series to accomodate the varied formats use to record football games: 1) Film on standard reels sizes, 2) Film on large reel sizes, and 3) Video tape. Within each, the arrangement is chronological. Practice sessions, scrimmage games, and related activities, along with a few unidentified games, are found at the end of each series.
