Contract File, 1948-1957

The grants and contracts of the Office of Controller were transferred to the University Archives, Washington State University, in May 1978 (UA 78-26) by Gary Chaffins in accordance with the approved records schedule. They were processed in October 1983 by Paul Green.

AGENCY HISTORY

The Office of Controller is the main financial office of the University. It receives and disburses all University funds. It is also responsible for keeping a record of all financial transactions and obligations.

ARRANGEMENT AND DESCRIPTION

The contract file of the Office of Controller, from 1948 to 1957, is arranged in a single series by contract number. Mainly correspondence between Washington State University and the grantors, these files also contain related correspondence, vouchers, and other papers. Important as a record of grants and contract obligations, this file also demonstrates the scope and emphases of funded research.
