BIOGRAPHY

Dr. George Elford Hudson was born on May 6, 1907. He taught in the Washington State University Department of Zoology from 1938 to 1974. From 1938 to 1946 he was an Assistant Professor of Zoology and the zoology museum curator. In 1946 he became an Associate Professor and gained his full Professorship in 1951. During the Second World War, Dr. Hudson worked with the War Department on chemical warfare. He was a charter member of the Washington Environmental Council. Dr. Hudson authored numerous articles on bird musculature, which appeared in the American Midland Naturalist and Ibis. Many of these articles were extensions of masters and doctoral research at the University of Nebraska in 1937. Dr. Hudson died on August 4, l974.

ARRANGEMENT AND DESCRIPTION

The papers of George Elford Hudson, which date from 1930 to 1971, are arranged in a single series in alphabetical order by subject. The records contain original drawings, in pencil and ink, and plates used for illustrations for his articles showing bird musculature. The folders listed as oversize (o.s.) are located in the flat files in a large folder separate from the other containers.
