BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Andrew Hofmeister, born February 1913, grew up near Ingomar, Montana. After earning a B.A. at the University of Montana in 1938, he taught in Malta, Miles City, and Great Falls. Leaving Montana, he received a Masters of Fine Arts degree at Washington State University in 1946 and subsequently joined the faculty. Following a distinguished career as artist and instructor, Professor Hofmeister retired from Washington State University in 1978.

DESCRIPTION AND ARRANGEMENT

The papers of Andrew Hofmeister reflect his career with Washington State University. Curriculum materials in the first six folders relate to art history and basic design classes. Undergraduate and graduate student data, exhibition announcements, and other papers are contained in the final three folders. Chronological order has been maintained throughout the collection.
