Included in this collection of papers are correspondence, trading licenses, circulars, reservation census, inventory of goods, certificates of appointment of Head Chiefs, deeds, and agency reports, dating between 1854-1902. Subjects include geographical consolidation of reservations, sickness and privation of Indians, clashes between Indians and Whites. Correspondents include Charles Henry Mason (while Acting Governor of Washington Territory); James Willis Nesmith (while Superintendent of Indian Affairs); Michael Trautman Simmons (while Indian Agent); Isaac Ingalls Stevens (while Governor of Washington Territory).
