- Fedstats--A major index to publicly available statistics from more than 70 federal agencies. It includes MapStats, statistical profiles of states, counties, cities, congressional districts, or Federal judicial districts.
- Statistical Abstract of the United States--Online access to the current edition and back to 1878. Annual compilation of social and economic conditions in the U.S. Most recent paper edition at the Holland Library Reference Desk and in Owen, Education, and Ag Sci reference collections; older editions in Holland and Owen federal documents collections under C 3.134: . - American FactFinder--Search engine for 2000 and 1990 decennial census statistics, 2002 and 1997 economic census, Population Estimates Program, and American Community Surveys; provides tables and an interactive mapping feature.
- Northwest Area Foundation Indicator Website--Tables, graphs, and maps on population, economy, health, and other topics for Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, North and South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. Data are at the state, county, reservation, and tribe levels from federal and state data sources.
- State Rankings and Profiles: books--CQ's State Fact Finder; Rankings Across America (Hol Ref HA 214 C68x 2002) and State Rankings; A Statistical View of the 50 United States (Hol Ref HA 203 U17 2003) rank the states on topics like population, government, taxes, health, transporation, welfare, education, and revenue. State Profiles; Population and Economy of Each U.S. State (Hol Ref HA 203 S734 1999) lists demographics, household & personal income, economic structure, education, health, and government for each state.
- County and City Data Book 2000 1944-2000--Population, housing, business, and other data for all U.S. counties, cities with 25,000 or more inhabitants, and places of 2,500 or more inhabitants. Paper copy from 1949 in the Holland Documents collection at C 3.134/2:C 83/2/ (most recent in Holland Reference). Holland Library Reference books: 2004 County and City Extra (Hol Ref HD4001 .M67x)--data for state, county, metropolitan area, congressional district, and all cities with 25,000 or more population. - Historical Statistics:--Historical Statistics of the United States, Colonial Times to 1970, also in paper (Holland Reference C 3.134/2:H62 colonial times-1970), 2 vol., published by the Census Bureau; Datapedia of the U.S. 1790-2005 (Holland Reference, HA 202 K87 2001) is based on Historical Statistics of the U.S. from Colonial Times and Statistical Abstract of the U.S. and presents the most significant statistics in 23 areas.

Statistique Canada--Canadian statistics on a wide variety of topics, compiled by the Canadian government.
Agriculture
- Agricultural Statistics 1994-present online--Annual USDA data book on agricultural production, supplies, consumption, facilities, costs, and returns. - Census of Agriculture

- National Resources Inventory--Natural resource data on "land cover and use, soil erosion, prime farmland soils, wetlands, habitat diversity, selected conservation practices, and related resource attributes" for non-Federal land.
- Statistical Highlights of U.S. Agriculture--A biennial review beginning with 1995
- USDA Economics and Statistics System--Reports and datasets on U.S. and international agriculture from economics agencies of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (via Cornell University).
Business and Economics
- Bureau of Economic Analysis--National, industry, regional, and international economic accounts producing indicators such as GDP and GDI, balance of payments, domestic and foreign investments, and personal income.
- CenStats--Business, trade, and occupational information
- Consumer Price Index (CPI)--"Monthly data on changes in the prices paid by urban consumers for a representative basket of goods and services."
- County and City Data Book 2000 1944-2000---Population, housing, business, and other data for all U.S. counties, cities with 25,000 or more inhabitants, and places of 2,500 or more inhabitants.
- County Business Patterns: 1977-present--Number of establishments, payroll, number of employees, and number of establishments for 2 digit SIC industry groupings; county, state, and national data.
- Economic Census 2002 1997 1992---For WSU Libraries holdings on these and earlier censuses see the Economic Census page.
- Economic Indicators--Access to daily releases of key economic indicators by the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Census Bureau
- EDGAR Database of Corporate Information--Security Exchange Commission Filings & Forms for Public Companies
- Federal Reserve Board Statistics--Releases and Historical Data; daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual economic data including commercial paper, loan charge-offs, and medium term notes
- Data on small business activity are available from the Small Business Administration in the SBA Online Library Reading Room.
- STAT-USA--Access to U.S. economic indicators through State of the Nation and to international trade data through Global Business Opportunities (GLOBUS) and National Trade Data Bank (NTDB). - AirData: Access to Air Pollution Data--Annual summaries of U.S. air pollution emissions and monitoring for the 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Emission of Greenhouse Gases in the United States--Latest estimates of emissions for carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and other greenhouse gases from the Energy Information Administration of the Dept. of Energy.
- National Climatic Data Center Publications--Access to Monthly Climatic Data for the World, Storm Data, Climatological Data, Local Climatological Data, Climate Maps, and more. Many of these titles are in paper format in the WSU Libraries; check Griffin for location and call number information.
- National Geophysical Data Center--earth observations from space, space weather and solar events, bathymetry and global relief, natural hazards, marine geology and geophysics, geomagnetic data and models
- National Oceanographic Data Center--archives and provides public access to global oceanographic and coastal data, products, and information.

- Bureau of Justice Statistics Publications--BJS reports on a variety of criminal justice topics
- Judicial Facts and Figures--historical caseload data, 1988-present, for the U.S. Courts of Appeals, the U.S. District Courts, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts.
- National Archive of Criminal Justice Data--sponsored by the Bureau of Justice Statistics and National Institute of Justice, this archive offers a large searchable database of publications on criminal justice research; researchers can be assisted with selection and use of files.
- National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS)
NCJRS Abstracts Database-- search system for government and non-government publications on criminal justice
NCJRS Library--links to online federal resources on criminal justice- OPE Campus Security Statistics Website--reported criminal offenses for colleges and universities in the U.S.
- Sourcebook of Criminal Statistics Online--Data on all aspects of criminal justice in the U.S. from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, updated online as new data is received. The annual paper copy is in Holland Library U.S. Docs under J 29.9/6: (most recent ed. in Holland Documents Reference).
- Uniform Crime Reports--sections are Crime in the U.S., Hate Crime Statistics, Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted, and National Incident-Based Reporting System. Current and some older editions are online; search Griffin for paper copies of these reports.
Defense
- Department of Defense Statistical Information-Directorate for Information Operations and Reports (DIOR). Statistics on procurement (prime contract awards), personnel, and casualties, with links to other statistical publications.
- Defense Almanac; DoD at a Glance-links to Department of Defense departments and agencies as well as some statistics.

- World Military Expenditures and Arms Transfers --originally published by the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, the U.S. State Dept. has made WMEAT available since 1988. It includes "annual military expenditures, arms transfers, armed forces, selected economic data, and relative indicators consisting of pertinent military-economic ratios."

- Census 2000 Briefs and Special Reports-- These two series analyze population and housing data from the 2000 census, e.g., Demographic Trends in the 20th Century, The 65 and Over Population, Overview of Race and Hispanic Origin, Population Change and Distribution 1990-2000. - Historical Census Browser 1790-1960--economic and population statistics for states and counties
- Metropolitan Ethnic and Racial Change (American Communities Project) Lewis Mumford Center for Comparative Urban and Regional Research presents data on specific metropolitan areas and their respective city and suburban portions.
- U.S. Census Bureau--gateway to a wealth of statistics on demographics and economics
- U.S.A Counties--2006 population estimates and items from the 2000 Census of Population and Housing, the 1990 census, the 1980 census, and the 2002, 1997, 1992, 1987, 1982 and 1977 economic censuses. Includes data from Bureau of Economic Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Social Security Administration.
Education
- Tables and Figures for National Center for Education Statistics Data--keyword search for statistics from Education Statistics Quarterly, National Education Data Resource Center Tables, and many National Center for Education Statistics publications. - The Condition of Education--guide to and analyses of basic education data for reporters and others wanting national context for local education news and conditions. Website has several years worth of data and is continually updated; paper copy in Education Library under L112 .N377a with most recent in the reference collection.
- Digest of Education Statistics--Compilation of government and non-government education statistics from prekindergarten through graduate school. See earlier editions online; paper copy in Holland Documents under ED 1.113: and in the Education Library under LB2846 .D54x (most recent edition in reference collections of both libraries).
- Projections of Education Statistics--Projections of enrollments, graduates, teachers, and expenditures for elementary and secondary schools and institutions of higher education. Paper copy in Holland and Education Libraries under LA210 .A28 with most recent ed. on reference.
- National Education Longitudinal Study--Survey on a representative sample of students from high school through 2 years post-secondary. Search Griffin for other formats in the WSU Libraries.
Energy
- Alternative Fuels Data Center--includes Alternative and Advanced Fuels and Alternative and Advanced Vehicles in addition to Data, Analysis and Trends and other information.
- Annual Energy Review--tables, spreadsheets, and graphs for energy production, consumption, import and export, with Monthly Energy Review updates and revisions. - Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality--Research by AHRQ provides information on health care outcomes, quality, cost, use, and access. Their Data and Surveys page covers medical expenditures, health care costs, hospital statistics, AIDS and HIV costs, and healthcare informatics.
- CDC Wonder--search and full-text access to Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports, guidelines, and numeric public health data
- The National Center for Health Statistics offers a Data and Statistics page which includes links to FastStats A-Z, DataWarehouse, surveys, interactive tools, publications, vital statistics, and other resources--well worth a visit
- Health, United States--annual report on health trends in the U.S.; full-text of reports back to 1975. Paper copies in the Owen Library documents collection at HE 20.6018: with latest edition in Owen Reference.
- Vital and Health Statistics Series--series of National Center for Health Statistics publications on statistical methods and NCHS surveys. Paper copy of the reports is in Owen Library Documents collection at HE 20.6209: .

- Immigration Statistics-- "...information about foreign nationals who enter or attempt to enter the United States for temporary or permanent residence...as well as subsequent actions such as apprehension, removal, or naturalization." The Yearbook of Immigration Statistics "...provides information about the various types of foreign nationals who are inspected, naturalized, apprehended, or removed by the Dept. of Homeland Security."

- National Science Foundation Publications and Data--science & engineering education, work force, research and development, and special tabulations and reports
- NIST Data Gateway Scientific and technical data from the National Institute of Standards and Technology; keyword, property, and substance access to data compiled and distributed under the Standard Reference Data Program, such as thermochemical and thermophysical data, spectra, and data on specific compounds. Databases are also listed by discipline such as analytical chemistry, biometrics, chemical kinetics, construction, and fluids. From the NIST site a search of the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data (JPCRD) can be performed.

- geodata.gov--Federal, state, and local geographic data applied to fields such as agriculture and farming, biology and ecology, business and economic, human health and disease, oceans and estuaries, transportation networks, and many more.
- TheDataWeb--A network of government data sites covering demographics, economics, health, labor, income and unemployment, crime, transportation, and other major topics. Available on the site is DataFerrett, a data mining and extraction tool that assists with selecting and coding variables for use in tables, graphs, and charts.
