"Most of these pieces began their artistic lives as driftwood, truly sculptures-in progress. My
efforts therefore are collaborative and freely exploratory. With some I begin with a clear idea
of what I want. With others I have no clue at the start, but simply find something appealing in
the shape, texture, coloration of the piece.
With each piece, my first adventure is always in the driftwood treasure hunt. My second
adventure is in discovering, creating, refining features that I hope will come together as one
esthetic idea or feeling. But, as with all art, particularly abstract art, the ongoing
