ArticleReach
ArticleReach (also spelled Article Reach) is an experimental service, similar in nature to Interlibrary Loan. Though ArticleReach, if an article is available electronically at any of the six other institutions partnering with WSU then the libraries can get you a pdf of it at no charge – you’ll be sent an email containing an e-link to the item (this link will remain active for 30 days). This can occur in as quickly as one day, but 2-4 work days is more usual, and it could be as long as a week. If we cannot get you the item, then you’ll be sent an email telling you that you’ll need to request it through Interlibrary Loan instead.
ArticleReach is only available for Pullman campus users. This does include DDP students based out of the Pullman system, but this is not available to Tri-Cities, Vancouver, or Spokane; nor is it available to community users or alumni.
During your research, if a journal or magazine title is not found in the Griffin Catalog then you can request an article by selecting the ArticleReach option through thebutton, in the same way that you would select Interlibrary Loan as an option. You will be prompted to log in using your last name and Cougar Card number. If you only have a print citation then you can still use this service. From the main WSU Library page, click on the Article Indexes / E-Journals tab in the middle. On that page, click on Citation Linker. This is the manual equivalent of the
button - fill that out, click "Go", and then click on "ArticleReach."
You don't have to know if an article is available to use this service - if it's not available then you should receive an email back shortly asking if you want to attempt to get it via Interlibrary Loan instead. However, if you want to know availability before making a request then when you reach the blue ArticleReach interface, click on the "New Search" button in the upper right. Do a title search for your journal (note: search for the journal title, not for the article title)- if it's available at one of the schools we should be able to get it for you; if it's not, skip ArticleReach and proceed directly to Interlibrary Loan.
If you have questions, please see our ArticleReach wiki for some common difficulties and answers. We can be contacted via phone at (509)335-5517 if you have more immediate questions.
