Your Basic Questions: General Information

Your Role as Researcher: Resources, Tools, Policies

Griffin: is WSU's online catalog. Use the "Request Item" button to request books from all libraries in the system. You will first need to create a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Summit: or the Orbis Cascade Alliance Central Catalog, provides access to information from 30+ academic libraries in Washington and Oregon totaling over 27 million items.

Interlibrary Loan: borrow books and acquire articles in journals not owned by the WSU Libraries or in Summit through the ILLiad system.

Electronic Article Indexes and E-Journals: over 250 electronic article indexes and databases, and thousands of electronic journals are at your desktop, both on campus and from home. Use Find It to move directly from literature search, to full-text article access, or to Interlibrary Loan.

Digital Collections: produced by Manuscripts, Archives and Special Collections (MASC) and Digital Services/Collections (DSC), and including online access to audio versions of historical interviews and music, data archives, maps, photographs, images, and texts suitable for classroom and research use.

WSU Research Exchange: The WSU Research Exchange is an institutional repository, which houses WSU faculty digital research and creative works.

Subject Resource Pages: online, discipline-specific guides to library and Internet resources prepared by the subject librarians.

Library Guides and Handouts: printable guides to library resources and services prepared by the subject librarians (available in MS Word [.doc] and Adobe Acrobat [.pdf] formats). These guides help meet a wide variety of research needs.

Collection Development Policies: policies prepared by the subject librarians to guide the focus of our collections.

 

Your Role as Instructor: Resources, Tools, Policies

Library Instruction Services and Resources Overview: a comprehensive list describing the services and resources of the Libraries' Information Literacy Program.

Schedule a Class: bring your class to one of the Libraries for an instruction session or a general library orientation.

Reserves (print and electronic): place materials for your classes on reserve at the libraries or in electronic format.

Library Assignment Alert Form: alert library staff about your research assignments. Completion of this form helps ensure the needed resources are available at the time your students need them.

Creating Effective Library Assignments: get help in preparing an effective research assignment for your class.

Resources for the Online Instructional Environment: the Libraries provide resources and support to students and instructors participating in distance education and on campus courses.
