WSU Libraries Reward and Recognition Program |
Temporary (Student &
Non-Student, Hourly) Employees:
Individual units with temporary employees may host their own recognition and appreciation events to honor and thank their employees. |
These events could be held during National Student Employment Week (which is generally in April each year), or at other times of the year. |
Supervisors may request funding for these events at $3 per temporary employee per calendar year. Units may pool their allocated funds together, or they may supplement events with donations from supervisors or other staff (for example, a potluck dinner). |
Requests for funds should be
submitted (email or paper) to the Director of Libraries and must include the
following information: 1. Names and total number of expected participants 2. Brief description of the event – including date, time, location 3. Estimate of total cost and total funds being requested |
Supervisors will be notified when requests are approved and will need to work with Susan Lundquist to access the funds and make purchases. |
Following each event, a brief report will need to be submitted to Susan
Lundquist and will include the following information: 1. Names and total number of actual participants 2. Brief summary of event 3. Total actual cost to the Libraries |
Staff, Faculty, and Administrative Professional Employees:
Years of service (or longevity) is honored by the University in the
following ways:
Certificates are provided to employees via LAO for milestones. |
Certain milestones recipients receive gifts provided by the University. |
25 year employees are invited to join the “Quarter Century Club". |
Employees are honored and recognized annually (in December) at an all-University reception/event. |
Staff and A/P employees are honored at each 5 year milestone. Faculty employees are honored at 25 years and every 5 year milestone thereafter.
The Libraries will no longer do a separate award event to honor longevity. Instead, we will host an all-Libraries party at the end of the spring semester. Everyone will be encouraged to participate in an “exhibit showcase.” This will be a way for units, groups, or individuals to display accomplishments, victories, or changes within their work areas. This might include posters, displays, exhibits, demonstrations, etc.
Refreshments will be served, and it will be an Open House style event to allow everyone to participate. A brief program will occur, and everyone will be honored.
Volunteers for a task force to plan, organize, and host the party will be needed.
