Terrell Legacy Endowment Dinner

In November 2005, the WSU Board of Regents unanimously voted to name WSU's new library in honor of former WSU President Dr. Glenn Terrell. Affectionately dubbed "The Students' President," Dr. Terrell took genuine interest in the students' learning experiences at WSU and throughout their lives. As one of WSU's most important learning centers, Terrell Library serves thousands of WSU students each day, a factor which resonates deeply with Dr. Terrell.

The naming of Terrell Library is a physical representation of Dr. Terrell's WSU Legacy. The spirit of his legacy is his love for the students. With that knowledge, Washington State University and the WSU Libraries are establishing an endowment to support student services in the WSU Library system. The Glenn Terrell Endowment for Excellence in Student Services will ensure that all WSU students have access to the information and tools that provide the critical margin of excellence necessary to help them secure their goals and realize their dreams. The endowment will provide crucial support in a number of areas including acquiring cutting-edge technology; designing and implementing comfortable, flexible, and well-equipped working and reading spaces; providing access to a rich array of electronic and print resources befitting a world-class research library; and creating spaces designed specifically for the student-faculty collaborations integral to today's higher education experience.

On April 27, 2007, Washington State University Libraries will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Glenn Terrell Endowment for Excellence in Student Services. Guest of honor, Dr. Glenn Terrell, WSU President V. Lane Rawlins, WSU President Emeritus Sam Smith, and WSU Libraries Interim Director Cindy Kaag will be in attendance. The event will be held at The Golf Club at Newcastle in Newcastle, Washington.

If you have any questions about the event or about donating to the Glenn Terrell Endowment for Excellence in Student Services, please contact the WSU Libraries Development Coordinator Sadie Galloway at 509-335-6205.

"The act of philanthropy is a spiritual act, an expression of caring for one's fellow human beings. It is a belief in the future that the future can be good. It is investing in that future. It is helping to make the dream come true." Arthur C. Frantzreb
