Rules and policies defining and governing leave for members of the faculty are included in the WSU Faculty Manual, Section III.E. The issues and types of leave discussed in this section are:

• annual leave
• holidays
• absence
• sick leave
• Family Medical Leave Act
• military leave
• leave for jury duty
• leave for testimony at trials and hearings
• leave without pay
• professional leave
• retraining leave
• leave with pay
• emergency leave
• leave of absence in relations to continuing employment and tenure

3.e.1 Professional Leave (monetary compensation)

If there is monetary compensation to the Libraries for the leave, and no restrictions apply, the division involved will determine, in conjunction with the Director of Libraries, how the money will be used (e.g., to hire a replacement, purchase equipment, etc.). The intent of this is to assure that the functions of the affected unit will be maintained.
