LIBRARY FACULTY HANDBOOK
3.k GRIEVANCE
Reference should be made to the section in the WSU Faculty Manual regarding 'Disciplinary Regulations' (pp. 53-61) and 'Termination' (pp. 61-65; 96-98).
The Faculty Status Committee generally serves as a grievance body for the university faculty. It is responsible to the faculty, and any member of the faculty may bring a problem to the attention of the committee. Its functions include the conciliation and adjudication of disputes within the faculty and between faculty and the administration. Disputes could cover such matters as dismissal, tenure, promotion and salary. Current membership is listed yearly in the WSU Committee Manual which is available at most library reference desks and in the Library Administrative Office. The Faculty Senate Executive Office will also ascertain current committee membership of the Faculty Status Committee. [WSU Faculty Manual, 1992, p. 25-26]
The University Ombudsman is also available to assist individuals with university-related problems, including suggestion of appropriate ways of handling grievances.
The organization chart of the University [WSU Faculty Manual, p. 50-51] and the Libraries [Sec. 2.b, p. 20 of 20, in this Handbook] represent the normal channels for handling library business, including problems of the division, unit, or of the individual.
