How to bookmark an index or database from off-campus
I am going to walk you through finding the journal index that you want using SearchIt.
At points along the way I will tell you to pause the podcast so that you can complete a step. When you have completed that step resume the broadcast.
First, bring up the library website.
Type in www.wsulibs.wsu.edu
Type in www.wsulibs.wsu.edu
Now you see the main library webpage. In the center is a picture with three tabs above it ; “griffin catalog”, “Find Journal Articles”, and the third says “your record”.
Click on the tab labled Find Journal Articles.
Look at the box in the center of this screen. On the left hand side you are offered 3 ways to find an article using an index.
Bring up the library webpage on your computer. www.wsulibs.wsu.edu
Select the center tab - Article Indexes/E-Journals.
Choose “Databases A-Z”
Authenticate with your WSU Network ID and password.
Type in the name of the index or database that you want to bookmark.
When the screen shows the name and description of this index or database, right-click on the link, and then choose “Bookmark This Link” (Add to Favorites in IE.)
You have now bookmarked the link through our scripting. Each time you use that bookmark you will be challenged to authenticate. At that point you use your WSU user name and password to gain access to the resource.
Using a MAC
If you can not right click using your MAC...
When the screen shows the name and description of only your selected index or database, bookmark that page. Each time you use that bookmark, click on the name of the index. You will be challenged to authenticate. At that point you use your WSU user name and password to gain access to the resource.
