Washington State University Libraries

WHETS students

1. What are the unique needs of this user group?

WHETS students are those who are enrolled in a WSU course that is delivered primarily via the WHETS system. These students can be located anywhere in the state of Washington, as there are WHETS Centers at the various WSU campuses as well as at some of the Learning Centers and community colleges. WHETS students can hold any number of patron affiliations. Often there are numerous campus affiliations within the same class.

2. How is this group currently supported by the Libraries?

There is no one way to support these students. Each student receives the support afforded by their campus affiliation.

3. How is this support communicated and promoted to them?

This depends on the campus affiliation they have.

4. Does this group have an official liaison from the Libraries?

No.

5. What problems does this group have with accessing library services?

It is often difficult for students to figure out their campus affiliation and what level of library service they can expect. It is difficult to address this issue because these classes can be a mixture of DDP students, Pullman affiliate students, and urban campus affiliates. We have not found any effective way to address this issue.
