McNair Group

1. What are the unique needs of this user group?

The McNair group is part of the TRIO program, and is composed of mostly Juniors and Seniors who are 1st generation college students, or who have other specific support needs.
Student Support Services (SSS) is another part of the TRIO program. They do not have any specific needs related to their enrollment status.

2. How is this group currently supported by the Libraries?

A Library Liaison provides orientation each Fall and Spring. Students sometimes need individual research assistance via email, appointments, and open lab hours. The Liaison attends program sessionsto talk about the libraries and promote other activities.

3. How is this support communicated and promoted to them?

The library liaison communicates with the McNair program coordinator or her office assistant.

4. Does this group have an official liaison from the Libraries?

Currently (2008) Lara Cummings, Instruction Librarian.

5. What problems does this group have with accessing library services?

No specific problems, just awareness of the services we offer.
