Conferences and Professional Programs (CAPPS)

1. What are the unique needs of this user group?

CAPPS students are often professionals who have an interest in obtaining a certificate in some job-related area. Their courses are non-credit, and the program is self-sustaining. There have been some with CAPPS to extend library services to CAPPS students for a fee. There has been no official provisions or plans to pursue this arrangement. (Per March 2005 - The College of Education's "Partnership Center" helps many of these groups with their online presence.)

These programs currently include Viticulture, ESL, Volunteer Management...

2. How is this group currently supported by the Libraries?

There is no current support for CAPPS students.

3. How is this support communicated and promoted to them?

NA

4. Does this group have an official liaison from the Libraries?

CAPPS and the Library Instruction Unit communicate several times a year. There is no official liaison.

5. What problems does this group have with accessing library services?

Several issues prevent the development of library services for this population. Funding of services is one. Addressing the "patron type" challenge is another.
