George B. Brain Education Library

Cleveland Hall

The Education Library, located in 130 Cleveland Hall, reflects faculty and student interests in elementary and secondary education, counseling and educational psychology, educational administration, sports and adult instruction, and the education of special (bilingual, multicultural, gifted and disabled) populations. Special resources include WSU theses and dissertations in education, juvenile literature, K-12 textbooks, educational kits, curriculum guides, and an ERIC microfiche collection.

About the Library

The library is named for George B. Brain, Dean of the Washington State University College of Education from 1965-1983. Dr. Brain received his M.A. in Education from Central Washington State College (1950), and his Ph.D. from Columbia University (1957). His long career in education included work as an elementary school teacher and principal, and terms as the superintendent of schools in Bellevue, Washington (1953-59), and Baltimore, Maryland (1960-64). He currently lives in Ellensburg, Washington.

The Education Library was re-dedicated and named for Dr. Brain in July 1987.
