INDEXES: Agricola, produced by the National Agriculture Library and CAB abstracts, produced by the Commonwealth Agricultural Bureau, are both available online. Many other indexes are available online, or in print form in the Indexes area just behind the computer area.
REFERENCE COLLECTION: The reference collection includes dictionaries, handbooks, encyclopedias and florae.
JOURNALS: Recent issues of most journals received by the Fischer Agricultural Sciences Branch are shelved alphabetically in the current journals area. Other unbound issues and bound volumes are shelved alphabetically in the journal stacks.
BOOK STACKS: Books are arranged in call number order in two sections: Books classified by Library of Congress call numbers, (ie. SB191.B2 B75) are on the north side, older books (purchased by the libraries before the 1960s) are in a separate section cataloged with Dewey Decimal call numbers (ie. 634 W522a) in the southern wall of the library behind the bound journals.
CIRCULATION: All materials leaving the Fischer Agricultural Sciences Branch Library must be checked out at the Circulation Desk. Present your WSU identification card (Cougar Card) and the material you want to check out. A Book Return is located in the Circulation Counter and Book Return Box is set up outside the front door of the library to use when the Library is closed. Records of all items checked out are maintained at the Circulation Desk.
RESERVE: Books, articles and other materials that have been requested to be reserved for use by students in specified courses are shelved behind the Circulation desk. All Reserve items must be checked out at the Circulation desk.
OBTAINING MATERIALS THE LIBRARY DOES NOT OWN: The Washington State University Libraries have develeped a variety of ways to enable students and faculty to request items that are not found in the Pullman Libraries and also to distribute materials to people at other campuses, extension centers, learning centers and DDLS for distance degree students.
PLANT PATHOLOGY REPRINTS: A collection of reprints of scholarly articles on plant pathology, maintained by the Plant Pathology Department is located in the southeast corner, just beyond the Dewey Decimal monograph section. There is an author catalog for the collection nearby on the north wall.
PHOTOCOPIERS: Two photocopiers are located near the entrance of the Fischer Agricultural Science Library. Both machines operate on copy cards which can be purchased from Circulation for $5.00 per card or an authorized IRI, or by using the copy card vending machine. The price per page is 10 ¢.
PRINTER: One Uniprint Station is networked to the public computers in the Fischer Agricultural Science Library. It is located on a table at the back of the public computer area. STUDY LOUNGE : Directly opposite
the Fischer Library entrance, in Room C-4, is a study lounge. The lounge is
provided to increase the amount of study space available for students and
faculty using the Fischer Library.
