Owen Library Map Room

The map collection in the Owen Science and Engineering Library includes USGS topographical maps for Washington State, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.  We maintain the current and historical issues for Washington State.  There are also some older topographical maps for the other U.S. states and Puerto Rico.

A large black-and-white photocopier is located at Circulation to make copies of maps as large as the 7.5' topos.  The cost is $1.80 per sheet.

Our collection includes geologic maps put out by the Washington State Division of Geology and Earth Resources.  We collect the USGS series maps (including Miscellaneous Investigation, Geologic Quadrangle, Geophysical Investigations, Hydrologic Investigations Atlas, Miscellaneous Field Studies, Land Use Series, and Oil and Gas).  We also have some older geological, agricultural, mineral, bathymetric, topographical maps and atlases of the region, country, world, and universe, including the Mt. Palomar Sky Atlas.

River plans for the region's main rivers, some with projected dam sites, are available.  We regularly receive U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, BLM Public Land, and some road maps for regional states.

All maps in this collection are located on the third floor of Owen Science and Engineering Library.  Most maps and atlases can be checked out for 7 days.
