NEWS FROM ICNE/SPOKANE:

By Bob Pringle

Staffing Changes:

The Betty M. Anderson Library has filled an empty staff position with our new serials and document delivery tech, Cathy Dorman. Cathy brings good public library experience, most recently at Spokane County Library District, to our academic efforts. Before she joined us, we did a bit of job rearranging. Babs Hachey now handles acquisitions as well as library reserve room functions, and Jeanne Wagner's position focuses on reference (especially evenings and Saturdays) and will include new work on patient and consumer education materials. Nancy Wagner continues to handle interlibrary loans and circulation problems.. In Yakima, Lorie Layne became the library's reference room staffer, in addition to her role as AV and computer media specialist. She serves our Yakima nursing students and faculty, as well as WSU Pharmacy interns in the area.

New Equipment:

We are in the process of adding a Canon digital microfilm scanner, for use with Ariel and electronic reserves, to our equipment capability. Means more training, of course! We also will be adding a standard scanner. We put in a Uniprint station earlier this year, using a big laser printer. In common with some of the Pullman libraries, we seem to see less use of this than expected, in part because of cost to the user. In services, we continue to work closely with students all over our service area, with document delivery and intensive reference help.

Contact information for all our folks, as well as access to our indexes of the publications of the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses Assn., is available from the library's web page, at http://www.icne.wsu.edu/library/index.html.
