DESCRIPTION AND ARRANGEMENT

This collection consists primarily of annual bound research reports spanning the years 1919-1953 from the Washington Agricultural Experiment Station located at the State College of Washington (later Washington State University). The various reports contained herein represent the combined work of numerous departments working on the Washington Agricultural Experiment Station and cover a variety of horticultural, entomological, agricultural, and biological findings related to a wide array of topics illuminating industrialized agriculture and animal husbandry at the beginning of the twentieth century. They contain research data and analysis on the varieties of Palouse region farm crops, horticulture, plant pathology, and soils; data and experiments on a variety of plants including alfalfa, sunflowers, wheat, barley, peas, soy beans, and potatoes; and data, field notes, computations, and extracts recorded by members of a variety of departments involved in agricultural research. They also contain daily air temperature readings obtained by air and soil thermograph for Rhizoctonia work on potato crops.
