Library Catalog
GRIFFIN Library Catalog The library catalog includes holdings for all the WSU Library sites, in Pullman and across the state. Please note: Electronic journals and other 'virtual' publications are included in the catalog.
To search for books in other libraries use WorldCat, a catalog of books and materials in libraries around the world.
Indexes, Abstracts and Other Databases
If full-text access is not available, click on “FindIt @ WSU” to search the WSU Libraries databases for full-text access. If full-text is not found, try using “Article Reach”. Fill out the Article Reach form as completely as possible; if one of our Article Reach partners can locate a copy of the article for you, it will be sent to you as an email attachment within a couple of days.
If you do not find the materials you have identified through these sources in Griffin, please do not give up! You can use ILLiad, the libraries Inter Library Loan system to borrow books and journal articles from libraries outside of the WSU Libraries. Inter Library Loan services are free to graduate students and faculty. There is a charge of 3 dollars per item for undergraduates.
Academic Search Complete (EBSCO) – Indexes Inter-Asia Cultural Studies, Japanese Studies and Asian Studies Review. You can limit to scholarly resources by clicking the option box on the search screen interface.
- If full text is available within ASC, you will see a PDF link beneath the citation information for the article. You can email PDF files to yourself when full text is available.
JSTOR – Provides full-text access to The Journal of Japanese Studies, The Journal of Asian Studies, and Asian Folklore Studies, among other titles.
- Click on “Advanced Search” and limit to “Articles”. JSTOR provides full text access in PDF format. You can download the PDF to your desktop and email it to yourself, or use a flash drive.
Humanities International Index - Indexes Asian Studies Review, Japan Forum, Modern Haiku, Japanese Studies, and Inter-Asia Cultural Studies, among others.

Project Muse – Provides full-text access to The Journal of Japanese Studies, Monumenta Nipponica, Manoa, and Positions: East Asia Cultures Critique, among others.
Bibliography of Asian Studies – Published by the Association for Asian Studies, the online version of the bibliography allows you to search over 718,000 citations of western-language articles and book chapters on all parts of Asia published since 1971. Use the FindIt@ your library button to interface with the WSU catalog.
CiNii: Citation Information by NII 論文情報ナビゲーター – Part of GeNii (Scholarly and Academic Information Portal), this database contains indexes to journal articles, including the National Diet Library (NDL) Journal Periodicals Index. WSU does not have a subscription to view the full-text content of this product, however the CiNii contains a large number of papers that are available free of charge.
National Diet Library Japanese Periodicals Index 雑誌記事索引 – Index of academic periodicals since 1948 held by the library. Mostly in Japanese, but also includes some English language journals published in Japan. You do not need to login unless you intend to use the online ordering system.

JAANUS – JAANUS is the on-line Dictionary of Japanese Architectural and Art Historical Terminology containing approximately 8000 terms r elated to traditional Japanese architecture and gardens, painting, sculpture and art-historical iconography from approximately the 1st century A.D. to the end of the Edo period (1868).
Metadatabase of Japanese old photographs in the Bakumatsu-Meiji Period – An online collection of approximately 6,000 photographs administered through the University of Nagasaki. Search categories include manners and customs, architecture, landscapes, portraiture, religion, work life, and urban settings.
Japanese Historical Maps – Digitized database of Japanese historical maps at the Asian Library, University of California, Berkeley.
GODS of Japan – A to Z Photo Dictionary of Japanese Gods, Goddesses, Shinto kami, Creatures and Demons.
Japan Foundation – An Organization specializing in international cultural exchange with Japan. Site includes information on Japanese language education, intellectual exchange programs, and includes links to the Foundation’s publications.
Japan Center for Asian Historical Records (アジア歴史資料センター) – A digital archive hosted by The National Archives of Japan, providing modern historical records related to Asia. Provides access to official documents from the Meiji era through 1945.
