ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY
The [University] Task Force on Continuing Education was appointed by Vice President Wallis Beasley in April of 1979. The purpose of the task force was to describe the extent of Washington State University's continuing education efforts and to detail the need and potential use of a conference-continuing education center. Further, they were to determine what programs might use the facility, what programs might be added or amplified if WSU had such a facility, and what space requirements and building layout might be needed. The study was to be concluded by April of 1980. The findings of the Task Force, as reported in May of 1980, supported the strengthening of continuing education and public service activities, but recommended establishing another task force to determine the feasiblity of building a facility that could house several complementary programs in addition to continuing education outreach programs.
