Photographs of Alaska: travel during the Klondike Gold Rush, ca. 1900-1905.
Purchased in 2002 from Carmen Dl. Valentino, Catalogue 54, #44. The collection was processed by Trevor Bond in December 2002.
Arrangement and Description
Two related groups of travel photographs by unknown photographers in Alaska ca. 1900-1905. The photographs include Alaskan scenes taken when Americans were into the region to make what they could of the last great gold strike of the 19th century. The first series consists of 12 mounted views with pencil captions and include images of native children selling curios, views of glaciers and mountain scenery. The second set of 20 travel photographs were taken during a trip aboard a 50-ton gasoline launch, the Valdez, and contain views of the "Copper Bullion" mine, Cape Spenser.
