The Ankcorn Hardware Company, operator of a retail hardware store at Palouse, Washington, was organized by Mr. Fred Ankcorn in about 1905. Prior to that time Mr. Ankcorn had been employed by a predecessor firm. The business has remained in the Ankcorn family since that time. The records consist of bills and invoices for merchandise bought from various wholesalers, and of carbon-copy records of customers' bills for merchandise sold. The records begin about 1920 and proceed to the mid-1950s with various interruptions. The arrangement follows the natural order of the records, which are divided into two series: records of purchases and records of sales.
